حث المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، تيدروس أدانوم غيبريسوس، المجتمع الدولي على التعلم من وباء كوفيد-19 الحالي والاستعداد لواحد جديد.

وقال المسؤول خلال اجتماع وزراء المالية والصحة لدول مجموعة العشرين، إن ظهور فيروس جديد يستحيل احتوائه من وجهة نظر علم الأحياء أمر مؤكد.

وقال رئيس منظمة الصحة العالمية: “حتى لو أنهينا هذا الوباء، يجب أن نتعلم الدروس منه ونستعد للفيروس التالي”.

وأشار غبريسوس إلى أن التهديدات من هذا المستوى تتطلب مشاركة سياسية على أعلى مستوى ، وحث دول مجموعة العشرين على دعم إبرام اتفاق دولي ملزم قانونًا بشأن الاستعداد للأوبئة والتصدي لها.

وأشار رئيس منظمة الصحة العالمية بالإضافة إلى ذلك، مشكلة عدم المساواة في الحصول على اللقاحات في العالم. وفقًا لجيبريسوس، حتى الآن، تم تطعيم 36% من سكان العالم بالكامل من كوفيد-19، لكن الرقم في القارة الأفريقية هو 6% فقط.

 أعلنت وزارة جيش الاحتلال الاسرائيلي ومصلحة السجون الاسرائيلية، اليوم الأحد، عن البدء في مشروع لتحصين سجن “جلبوع”، عقب حادثة نفق الحرية التي انتزع فيها 6 أسرى حريتهم من السجن في سبتمبر الماضي.

وقال بيان صادر عن جيش الاحتلال ومصلحة السجون إن مشروع تحصين السجن تقدر كلفته بـ 2.53 مليون دولار.

وأشار البيان إلى أن مصلحة السجون شكلت بعد نفق الحرية فريقا من الخبراء يتكون من مهندسين وخبراء من وحدات خاصة في الجيش الإسرائيلي، حيث بدأوا في تحديد نقاط الضعف في مرافق السجن والبنية التحتية.

ووفقاً للبيان، يشمل المشروع صب الخرسانة في الزنازين وتحسين حمايتها، مشيراً إلى أنه في الأيام المقبلة سيتم الانتهاء من إجراءات رسم الخرائط الهندسية في السجن، وبعد ذلك سيبدأ قسم الهندسة والبناء أعمال التحصين.

التقى رئيس جهاز المخابرات العامة اللواء ماجد فرج، اليوم الأحد، عائلات الأسرى المضربين عن الطعام، بحضور رئيس نادي الأسير قدورة فارس، وعضوا مجلس إدارته عبد الله الزغاري، وأمجد النجار.

وخلال اللقاء، أكّد اللواء فرج أنّ قضية الأسرى المضربين عن الطعام تتابع على كافة المستويات بتعليمات من الرئيس محمود عباس، وهناك تحرك مستمر لإنهاء معاناتهم وبشكل عاجل.

واستعرض نادي الأسير وعائلات الأسرى المضربين تفاصيل الأوضاع التي وصل إليها أبناؤهم بعد أن مر على إضرابهم عدة شهور، وسط مخاطر تتصاعد على حياتهم، يقابله تعنت الاحتلال بالاستجابة لمطلبهم.

يُشار إلى أنّ سبعة أسرى يواصلون الإضراب عن الطعام رفضا لاعتقالهم الإداريّ، وهم: كايد الفسفوس، ومقداد القواسمة، وعلاء الأعرج، وهشام أبو هواش، وشادي أبو عكر، وعياد الهريمي، ولؤي الأشقر.

PEACE AND SECURITY AWARD

Peace aims to recognize the powerful stories of peace-builders and activists in the region who embody the IIPL agenda.

To be eligible for an IIPL Peace Award, nominees:

• Must not have previously won a P&S Award.
• Must have demonstrated capacity in mobilizing people and resources for peace building.
• Must have worked on furthering the cause of peace, gender equality, equal participation, and empowerment of women, in either/or the following areas:
  Participation: be in a position of representation at any levels of decision making, including peace-processes, electoral processes and other decision-making bodies at the national and sub-national levels;
  Conflict Resolution: contributing to preventing the emergence, spread, and re-emergence of violent conflict, and/or addressing root causes of conflict; 
  Protection: contributing to the protection of women and girls in conflict and post-conflict settings, including reporting and prosecution of sexual and gender-based violence;  
  Relief or Recovery: contributing to relief and recovery including working on health services, income generations and trauma counselling. Contributions to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence are also included.

INTER-RELIGIOUS HARMONY AWARD

H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan first proposed the World Interfaith Harmony Week at the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2010. Just under a month later, on October 20, 2010, it was unanimously adopted by the UN and henceforth the first week of February will be observed as a World Interfaith Harmony Week.

The World Interfaith Harmony Week is based on the pioneering work of The Common World initiative. This initiative, which started in 2007, called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two common fundamental religious Commandments; Love of God, and Love of the Neighbor, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious tenets.

The IIPL recognizes major media, international and independent sites, media houses and individuals producing innovative work for peace-building according to objectives of IIPL. The IIPL Committee and judges place special emphasis on entries that demonstrate mastery of the special characteristics and emerging technology of digital journalism. The media organizations and Journalists who participated positively in peace-building efforts, played their role during CoVID -19 relief efforts through their verified reporting.
